It was another cold and windy night, bundled in the Range Rover with 6 other people… on our way to what we hoped would be a successful sighting of the Aurora Borealis. With a 50/50 chance of a sighting we waited and waited, walking and dancing trying to stay warm and waiting for the clouds to move and particles of the sun to hit the perfect amount of oxygen and nitrogen. After a second cup of the world’s best hot chocolate and a yummy Icelandic donut it was time to head back, no lights to be seen. Half way back to Reykjavik there they were… dancing across half of the sky. We pulled over and jumped out as fast as possible. Drapery auroras dancing on both sides of us connected by an arc. Freezing our butt’s off in the 30 mph wind it was a beautiful sight. The Northern Lights have officially been checked off the bucket list!
